WAAT is an NFT

"TittyMatrix and The Snek" is a non-fungible token on the Cardano blockchain created by Brice Mauriange. It is a hand-drawn collection of 5,555 unique NFTs composed of 179 traits. It costs 100 ADA per NFT.

The technology of the NFTs was a revelation. BME MAURIANGE saw a possibility for drawing artists to have a new way of securing their work on the Internet and to be able to pay themselves decently for the work they do. In addition, the NFT technology secures artists’ royalties.

What is an NFT?

NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a unit of data stored on a blockchain, a decentralized and distributed ledger. Once a smart contract is deployed on the blockchain, it is decentralized and immutable, meaning it cannot be altered or tampered with. This ensures the security and integrity of the ownership and properties of NFTs.

NFTs are created using smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement directly written into code. Smart contracts enable the creation, transfer, and management of NFTs. In the case of NFTs, smart contracts define the rules and properties of the tokens.

NFTs often store metadata off-chain, which includes information about the digital asset represented by the token. This metadata can include details about the creator, the creation date, and links to the digital file associated with the token.
